Israel Peace Agreement Bahrain

The new peace agreements thus address a critical gap in Israel`s previous agreements with Egypt and Jordan. Of course, the historic peace agreement reached in 1979 with Egypt remains an unassailable reference to ending the Arab-Israeli wars by removing the Arab world`s most populous and powerful nation from the conflict. Without this decisive change, no further agreement would have been possible between Israel and its Arab neighbours. But this peace – and its 1994 successor with Jordan – remains a cold peace, limited to strong security coordination and a series of economic agreements. Depending on the survival of regimes of dubious longevity, such peace is constantly vulnerable to regional and internal vicissitudes. At the special welcoming ceremony for Israeli officials at the airport, Bahraini Minister Al Zayani said: “Today we are beginning to implement the peace declaration we signed in Washington. This approach is the most effective approach to achieving peace in the Middle East. In a public statement from the Palestine Liberation Organization, it was described as a “black day in the history of the Palestinian people,” which said that peace needed “the end of the Israeli occupation.” You condemned Abraham`s accords as treason. The new agreement breaks a long-standing Arab consensus that the price of normal relations with Israel is the independence of the Palestinians. Ezzedine C. Fishere: Why did the Palestinians reject Trump`s peace plan? Here are three reasons. If Israel, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates play their cards correctly, their agreements could have a positive impact on Israeli-Palestinian relations and accelerate progress towards a two-state solution. Under the aegis of this agreement, Abu Dhabi and Manama could act as a moderating force for Palestinian politics and society and eliminate malicious actors such as Qatar, Iran and Turkey, which have fuelled Palestinian rejection, which fuels Gulf frustration and Israel`s reluctance to make concessions.

On August 13, 2020, President Trump announced that the VaE and Israel should normalize relations as part of the peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. [19] Bahrain welcomed the agreement in which it said it would contribute to stability and peace in the region. [20] In addition, in a sign of increasing cooperation between the parties, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have authorized overflights of aircraft to and from Israel, in a sign of support for the agreement. [21] But the document signed later this month with Bahrain was merely a statement of general intent and not the comprehensive peace agreement signed with the United Arab Emirates. Israeli government officials said the parties did not have time to draw up a full agreement before the signing ceremony. Palestinian nervousness will increase after Bahrain`s accession to the agreement. After Sunday morning`s welcome ceremony, the delegation shared in working groups to sign a second, more detailed declaration on the establishment of diplomatic and peace relations. The declaration to be signed should not be expected to be a comprehensive peace agreement, as Israel signed last month with the United Arab Emirates, in part because of Bahrain`s fierce opposition to the normalization of relations with Israel.
